For the last 40 years, The Perecman Firm has dedicated its practice to helping the seriously injured rebuild their lives. The personal injury matters they have handled include some of the toughest catastrophic injury cases in New York. And the firm’s tenacity and resolve in these matters has not wavered since its founding in 1983.

The Perecman Firm has secured numerous multimillion-dollar recoveries for its injured clients.”

“What distinguishes us is passion,” says David Perecman, who has been included in The Best Lawyers in America® for more than 15 years and was named the Best Lawyers 2022 Long Island Personal Injury Litigation – Plaintiffs “Lawyer of the Year.” “We are and always have been very passionate about what we do. For us, it’s not just a case or a client, it’s a life that has been devastatingly upset and thrown off track, and we take a great deal of pride in making sure our clients are made whole again.”

Over the past year, The Perecman Firm has secured numerous multimillion dollar recoveries for its injured clients, including $4.75 million for a union plumber who fell from a ladder injuring his arm, $4.3 million for a union carpenter who fell from a scaffold, $3.5 million for a union laborer injured in a building collapse, $3.5 million for a husband and wife injured in a motor vehicle accident, $3.25 million for a union demolition laborer who broke his heel when he stepped on a piece of concrete debris, and $2 million for a 62-year-old union construction worker who slipped and fell on snow and ice at a construction site.

In addition, the firm is known for its work on influential matters, such as the case Torres v. Jones, where they represented a woman who was incarcerated at Rikers Island for four years in a false arrest and malicious prosecution lawsuit. Initially, the case was dismissed due to the presumption of probable cause associated with the arrest and flowing from the indictment. However, Perecman appealed the case to the New York State Court of Appeals, which reversed the dismissal and reinstated the case—enabling Perecman to achieve a $4 million settlement for his client and ultimately affect case law.

“Because of the law at the time, the case was initially dismissed, and it was horrible seeing that occur,” Perecman says. “But I knew the law was wrong in this matter and I did everything in my power to ensure it was changed.”
